Supergirl is getting fancy for "Event Horizon." In new photos from the Season 5 premiere, the Girl of Steel and her friends are dressed to impress in an opera house.
The five new photos each focus on a different character. Supergirl, Dreamer and Brainiac-5 are all shown in their superhero costumes, which suggests some major throw-down is about to take place. However, DEO Director Alex Danvers and J'onn J'onnz, aka Martian Manhunter, appear formally dressed. It seems they will be in attendance for this soiree, though Alex looks to be as prepared as ever: judging by the position of her arms, she's likely holding a gun.
Notably, core character Lena Luthor is missing from the photos. Of course, that may have to do with the fact she discovered Kara's big secret last season -- a fact she was none too pleased about. Judging by the Season 5 sizzle reel shown at Comic-Con International in San Diego, she's still holding a grudge.
Season 5 will pit Supergirl and her friends against a technological threat. "One of our big bads this season is Leviathan, so we're bringing that into our canon this year... This season is going to be about how technology effects us," executive producer Robert Rovner explained at SDCC. "We'll be seeing how our villains this season use technology against us and how our heroes bring us back."
Returning Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen and Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers.
