WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for One-Punch Man Chapter 100 by ONE and Yusuke Murata, available now in English from Viz Media.
With the Hero Association and the Monster Association bringing out all of their big guns in their ongoing massive battle, there have been some pretty epic showdowns. Flashy Flash, Child Emperor and Zombieman have all taken on the villainous organization's deadliest monsters with great success, and it's not stopping with them. One-Punch Man Chapter 100 sets up the next epic battle: Amai Mask vs. Do-S.
Amai Mask is the top-ranked A-Class hero and serves as something of a gatekeeper to those he deems unworthy, keeping them from becoming S-Class heroes. In addition to being something of a narcissist, he's an incredibly formidable fighter, with it generally being assumed he could become an S-Class hero if he wanted to, though he chooses not to.
Do-S, who dresses like a dominatrix, uses her spiked whip to bend opponents to her will. She's a Demon-level monster and defeated a bevy of lower-ranked heroes when she debuted, while also proving a match for some of the more powerful people on the side of good. Although she's certainly not the most powerful monster, Do-S's mind control abilities definitely make her formidable.
Chapter 100 kicks off with three sword-wielding heroes -- Iaian, Bushidrill and Okamaitachi -- facing off the squad Narinki, one of the Hero Association's biggest donors, sent to rescue his son, Waganma, whose kidnapping precipitated the battle between heroes and villains. Do-S hypnotized the squad after it was captured and uses them here to fight the swordspeople, who are pupils of Atomic Samurai.
The three heroes hold their own against the squad, who are armed with guns and battle suits described as "illegal and unauthorized." However, Do-S tries to turn the tide in her favor by taking control of Bushidrill. As her whip flies out towards him, Amai Mask appears, grabbing it from the air before it can hit anyone.
Amai Mask 's ability to grab her whip surprises Do-S, as normally taking any damage from it would result in what the hero calls a "pain-induced hypnosis" that "steals [victims'] willpower]." Although they try and resist at first, Amai Mask tells the three heroes to retreat, revealing Do-S won't be able to enslave him in the same way she's taken control of others. The three samurai give in and retreat, with Amai Mask and Do-S standing face-to-face, preparing for the manga's next showdown.
As the battle between the Hero Association and Monster Association has heated up, there have been a lot of high-profile match-ups like this one. However, no particularly noteworthy hero has failed to triumph yet. The Monster Association is taking heavy losses, and they are likely to never be the same after this battle comes to its inevitable conclusion. However, the villainous group still has its most powerful fighter ready: Orochi, the Monster King. Even if Amai Mask wins against Do-S, Orochi is sure to do some incredible damage to the Hero Association, provided Saitama doesn't get to him first.
One-Punch Man Chapter 101 releases Sept. 11 from Viz Media.
