Avengers: Endgame has become not only Marvel Studios' biggest hit but also the highest earning film of all time. And the summer blockbuster has just broken another record.
Online movie ticket ordering service Fandango has reported that Endgame has broken the highest number of home video pre-orders through FandangoNOW, its video-on-demand streaming service. Of the pre-orders, an impressive 42% are the 4K Ultra HD version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe film.
"There’s so much going on in Endgame that fans will want to own it at home, especially in the highest definition possible, so they can watch it again and again and catch all the things they missed," explained Erik Davis from Fandango in an interview with Deadline. "It’s an emotional ride and visual feast, and with the new bonus features, Endgame promises to be the most significant home entertainment event of the year.”
Earlier this month, Endgame surpassed Avatar's $2.787 billion worldwide box office totals to become the highest earning film of all time.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, with Gwyneth Paltrow Pepper Potts, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan, Benedict Wong as Wong, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Josh Brolin as Thanos. The film is set for release on Digital HD on July 30 and Blu-ray and 4K UHD on Aug. 13.
