A game overview trailer for Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers reveals the evil organization from the comics that has replaced Earth's Mightiest Heroes following the events of the tragic A-Day.
The video begins with a brief rundown on the game's story, with the Avengers celebrating A-Day, which is the opening of their West Coast headquarters. When the team's Terrigen Crystal Reactor explodes, it levels San Francisco, forcing the Avengers to disband due to public backlash and government pressure. In their absence, a new organization vows to protect the world: Advanced Idea Mechanics, otherwise known as A.I.M.
Next, we jump ahead five years to find the world a much different place. In their pursuit to make the world a safer place through science, A.I.M. has replaced all heroes with its advanced synthroid artificial intelligence. This A.I. is represented by robotic droids that patrol to keep the peace.
Underneath a surface, a conspiracy against superheroes is discovered, leading to the introduction of Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. She sets out to clear the Avengers' name and reassemble the team while also becoming the hero she's destined to be.
The remaining parts of the trailer go over the Avengers' new headquarters in a decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, along with instructions on how gamers can customize the Avengers with unique abilities and costumes.
Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix, Marvel's Avengers features Nolan North as Iron Man, Troy Baker as Bruce Banner, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, Jeff Schine as Captain America, Travis Willingham as Thor and Sandra Saad as Kamala Khan. The game is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.
