WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Pennyworth, which aired Sunday on Epix.

The penultimate episode of Pennyworth's first season ended with its title character on the run from the authorities. But that wasn't the worst part. No, the Raven Society had now gotten the upper hand over the No Name League and the government by kidnapping Queen Elizabeth II. Now, in the season finale, the Raven Society tightens its grip on London and plans to shape the future of Great Britain.

Thankfully, there are still a few heroes left to make a difference. Even though Alfred is planning to travel to America to ensure his freedom, the former S.A.S soldier holds his step when he hears mention that the Queen was kidnapped. Instead of fleeing the country, he mounts up a rescue operation for two reasons: one, to save the Queen of course and two, to earn a full pardon. But there's something else Alfred ends up getting out of his heroic turn -- something wholly unexpected: a night of passion with the Queen herself.

To rescue the Queen, Alfred signs up his two friends, as well as Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane. Thanks to a bit of useful detective work, they are able to locate the Queen, who is being held captive by Bet Sykes and her sister. The rescue operation might be a team effort, but it's very much Alfred's mission. He's the one who ends up saving the Queen and, as a result, he gets everything he wanted... and a whole lot more.

After being officially pardoned, the Queen thanks Alfred for his heroic actions by taking him to her private chambers. Then, after spending the night together, she swears him to secrecy. While they enjoy each other's company, this is something that Alfred may never, ever talk about -- to anyone, she stresses.

Alfred Pennyworth as we know him in the comics is a bit of an enigma. We know part of his origin, but we mostly know about his focus and dedication to Bruce Wayne and his mission. It's clear that he has many stories to tell about his time in London, and now, well, we've just found out perhaps his greatest secret: Alfred slept with Queen Elizabeth II. And we're sure, one day, this will make for an interesting topic of conversation in the Batcave.

Developed by former Gotham collaborators Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, Pennyworth stars Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth, Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne, Jason Flemyng as Lord Harwood, Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes, Ryan Fletcher as Dave Boy, Hainsley Lloyd Bennett as Bazza and Jessica Ellerby as the Queen. The series airs Sundays at 9 pm ET/PT on EPIX.
