The Legion of Super-Heroes is coming back and the distant future team's return will also feature a reunion of sorts between Super Sons Jon Kent and Damian Wayne.
In an exclusive interview with CBR, writer Brian Michael Bendis observed that his upcoming relaunch of the fan-favorite comic book title will not rely heavily on time-travel in favor of staying to the team's setting in the DC Universe's far-future. Despite this, Bendis confirmed the team would travel back in time to pick up Damian as an impromptu recruit before returning to its own time.
"We're not going to be doing a lot of time travel or a time-travel shtick," explained Bendis. "The best Legion stories are about them just being in the moment, and I know we go back and forth a lot and, yes, Damian is coming back with the Legion as well -- that's a time travel thing -- but, other than that, there's not going to be a whole lot."
The sons of Superman and Batman had formed their own adolescent incarnation of the World's Finest, saving the day in their own maxi-series as well as semi-regularly appearing in their respective comic book titles. Since then, Jon has aged into a teenager after being whisked across the Multiverse by his grandfather Jor-El but the two old friends are about to go on their own time-traveling team-up.
Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium #2 is written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by a whole host of artists including Nicola Scott, Jim Cheung, Jeff Dekal and Ryan Sook. It goes on sale Oct. 2 from DC Comics.
