New comic book publisher Impact Theory has teamed up with acclaimed electronic artist Don Diablo to launch a new sci-fi comic book series titled Hexagon, co-created by prolific science fiction writer Michael Moreci and Impact Theory CEO Tom Bilyeu.
The upcoming story follows a young boy named Don, who secretly enters a video game competition against his father's wishes. He beats the impossible arcade game, inadvertently triggering an alien invasion that draws him to an epic intergalactic conflict spanning the cosmos. The first issue of the series will be available for free at the Impact Theory booth at New York Comic Con from October 4 through October 6 while supplies last. Exclusive unlettered preview pages from the debut issue, illustrated by Jheremy Raapack, and covers by Jorge Corona and Julien Cittadino appear below.
"Hexagon is a nostalgic coming of age story reminiscent of The Last Starfighter, coupled with epic Star Wars-like galaxy adventures. It’s the second series from publishing studio Impact Theory and initially slated for five issues. Issue #1 will be available at New York Comic Con, with following issues available in retail stores and online in 2020," Bilyeu explained in a written statement. "Hexagon represents our first step into youth-focused content. Don Diablo and Michael Moreci together are a magical combo, that have created a story that will suck readers of all ages into a thrilling, interplanetary adventure that they won’t be able to put down."
Diablo is one of the most sought-after electronic artists in the country, remixing hit singles by artists including Rihanna and Ed Sheeran while collaborating with other electronic artists including Gucci Mane and Diplo. Moreci is the acclaimed author of the novel Black Star Renegades and co-creator of fan-favorite comic book series, including Wasted Space and Roche Limit. The two worked together closely to craft the immersive sci-fi world in Hexagon.
"I loved the creative process we shared building this vision of our fantasy sci-fi world,” Don Diablo said in a written statement. "Tom put together a legendary team for my crossover into comic books. This is the beginning of many inspiring stories to come."
Founded by successful entrepreneur Tom Bilyeu, Impact Theory launched its comic book publishing line earlier this year with the sci-fi series Neon Future, working with Eisner Award-winning writer Jim Krueger and two-time Grammy-nominated producer and recording artist Steve Aoki to adapt Aoki's trilogy of chart-topping concept albums into an acclaim comic series.
Hexagon #1 is written by Don Diablo and Michael Moreci with Impact Theory CEO Tom Bilyeu and illustrated by Jheremy Raapack. The issue will be available for free at the Impact Theory booth at New York Comic Con starting October 4. The creative team will be at Impact Theory Booth 426 on Saturday, October 5 from 1-1:45pm, with copies of the first issue.
