The DC Universe is home to some of the fastest characters imaginable. For most people, The Flash comes to mind when thinking about the so called, “Fastest Man Alive.” However, many other people aside from Barry Allen have come to hold the very same title. Over the years, countless numbers of other speedsters have been introduced into the DC Universe, offering different takes on The Flash, or even giving him a run for his money. Furthermore, many of these speedsters exist beyond the normal DC Universe, as part of the Multiverse. To shine some light on some other speedsters, here is our list of the 10 fastest characters in all of DC’s Multiverse.

10 Red Death

As one of the newest speedsters in DC’s Multiverse, Red Death is actually a dark mashup of both Batman and Flash. In the Dark Multiverse, this version of Bruce Wayne snapped after failing to save those closest to him. In order to make sure he would never be too slow again, this Bruce kidnapped Barry Allen and forced him to transfer his powers. During the process though, something went wrong and the two ended up merged instead. While Bruce remains in control, he constantly has Barry in his head, fighting him at every turn. Because of this, Bruce actually has the potential to be much faster, but Barry’s constant push back only hinders his abilities.

9 Jay Garrick (Earth 2)

Of course, the original Flash is easily one of the fastest in the multiverse. Though Jay is far from the fastest, he is still one of the most important speedsters in all of DC history. His experience, discoveries, and time as the Flash helped lay the groundwork for all other speedsters after him. Likewise, Jay is a bit of an older character as well, and has often expressed that he is no longer as fast as he used to be. At his prime, Jay would likely land a bit higher on this list. Considering his age though, the fact that he is still so fast is all the more impressive.

8 Flash (Earth 33)

Earth 33 is definitely one of the lesser explored DC universes. However, there is still enough information about Earth 33’s Flash to understand just how fast she truly is. Her real name is unknown, but she claims to be the keeper of the Speed Force. Furthermore, she has noted some magical and other supernatural ties between the Speed Force and her own abilities. Because of this, it can be assumed that she is almost unimaginably fast. She has also been shown to have extra, additional powers that most speedsters don’t. Since there is no way to accurately know just how fast she is at the moment, this version of Flash lands a bit lower than she may be capable of.

7 Black Racer

The Black Racer is often regarded as death himself. While he actually was once a human, Darkseid eventually bestowed his powers upon him. As the Black Racer, he has come to have a particular interest in the Flash Family and other speedsters, as they are typically the only individuals capable of outrunning him. However, that is not to say that he is slow by any means. At the moment, the Black Racer is officially the 5th fastest character in the main DC Universe. Because of this, he is easily far faster than many other speedsters in both the main DC Universe and the Multiverse as well.

6 Superman

The interesting thing about Superman’s speed is that he actually has no connection to the Speed Force. Despite this, he is still one of DC’s fastest characters. For awhile even, Superman was believed to be faster than The Flash himself. Yet, according to DC themselves, Superman is the 4th fastest character in the entire DC Universe. While some are still faster than he is, the fact that he is still faster than so many other speedsters is impressive. Furthermore, with no connection to the Speed Force, it is astounding that Superman can even reach such speeds.

5 Black Flash

The interesting thing about Black Flash is that he technically isn’t a character. Instead, he is a presence within the Speed Force itself whose sole purpose is to absorb a speedster at the time of their death. Since some speedsters are capable of outrunning the likes of the Black Racer, the Black Flash then comes in to finish the job. Strictly speaking, the Black Flash isn’t really a bad guy, but rather more of a force of nature. Regardless, since his entire existence revolves around catching people who are fast enough to outrun death, it is easy to see how he ranks a bit higher on this list.

4 Wallace West (Earth 22)

Earth 22 is better known as the Kingdom Come Universe. In this alternate future, older versions of superheroes struggle with how heroism has evolved. Here, Wally West is still The Flash. However, after a point, his connection to the Speed Force grew to the point where he could no longer stop. Wally is in a constant state of motion in the universe, constantly traveling at incredible speeds. While he remains a hero, this version of Flash is easily one of the fastest. With Wally already being faster than Barry, it makes sense that an older, more experienced version of Wally would still rank so high.

3 Eobard Thawne

Eobard Thawne is easily Barry Allen’s biggest adversary. Over the years, Thawne has tortured Barry in unimaginable ways, yet also improving him in the process. With the Negative Speed Force at his side, Thawne continues to get faster and faster. Technically speaking, he is actually faster than Barry. However, at the end of virtually every encounter between the two, Barry emerges faster than Thawne. Because of this, it is easy to see how Thawne ranks so high, yet also not the highest.

2 Barry Allen

As the most popular version of The Flash, Barry has undergone several challenges across the DC Universe. Furthermore, Barry himself is also the creator of the Speed Force, giving him one of the strongest and most pure connections to it. As a result, Barry has continued to get faster over the years, either through pushing himself or through studying the Speed Force. Likewise, his experiences with the Justice League have also helped him improve. Yet, despite everything Barry has accomplished as The Flash, he is still not the fastest person in the Multiverse.

1 Wally West

Not only is Wally West the Fastest Man Alive in the main DC Universe, but the entire DC Multiverse as well. While some may doubt this claim, it was recently confirmed in the all-new Flash Forward #1. Though Barry may have created the Speed Force, Wally studied it for far longer. Furthermore, Wally also pushed his limits as The Flash, building a stronger connection to the Speed Force in the process. Overall, Wally has accomplished all sorts of feats as The Flash, proving time and again that he truly is The Fastest Man Alive.
