IT director Andy Muschietti has boarded Warner Bros.' The Flash film.

During a press junket for It: Chapter Two, Muschietti confirmed he will take over the project as director. Spider-Man: Homecoming screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, as well as Rick Famuyiwa, were previously attached to direct the long-gestating project, but ultimately dropped out.

Asked by Fandango if The Flash will be his next project, Muschietti replied, "Yup."

He also offered some insight into what fans could expect. "An element of horror? I don't think so," he said. "What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it. The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It's going to be fun, too. I can't promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it's a beautiful human story."

Christina Hodson was reportedly in talks to write a new version of The Flash's script. Hodson also penned the scripts for 2018's Bumblebee and the upcoming Birds of Prey film.

Last week, star Ezra Miller insisted The Flash film is "absolutely confirmed." The news of Muschietti's involvement with the film lends credence to that.

The Flash is expected to star Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and Billy Crudup as Henry Allen. At the time of writing, The Flash does not have a release date.
