In his new single, titled "Rainbow Dragon," actor/singer-songwriter Keiynan Lonsdale directly references his departure from The CW's DC television series The Flash.

The song's second verse deals heavily with the theme of Lonsdale carving out a new path for himself upon realizing he can live his life any way he chooses to. At around the track's two minute mark, Lonsdale raps about all the choices he is free to make of his own volition, declaring, "I could quit The Flash if I wanted to."

Lonsdale boarded The Flash as Wally West, aka Kid Flash, in 2015. He had a main role in the series from Season 2 to Season 4, as well as a starring role in DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 3. However, Lonsdale all but departed the Arrowverse in 2018, not returning for Season 4 of Legends and only appearing in Season 5 of The Flash as a guest star.

"I've changed a lot in the past year (as you've probably noticed) and for infinite reasons my perspective on life and what I want from it now is just completely different," Lonsdale said of his exit. "Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I'm so damn grateful to both shows for honouring and respecting that with me." Of course, the lyrics of "Rainbow Dragon" appear to echo this sentiment.

That being said, it was revealed by Flash showrunner Eric Wallace at Comic-Con International in San Diego this past July that Lonsdale's Wally West would appear The Flash's upcoming sixth season. Wallace teases Flash and Kid Flash battling "one of the greatest Flash villains."
