This year, Spawn will become the longest-running creator-owned comic book of all time produced by a major North American publisher, and Image Comics has released two new covers for next month's milestone 300th issue.

Illustrated by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and fan-favorite artist Greg Capullo, one cover features the antihero wielding two submachine guns while another, illustrated by Capullo, has Spawn prepared to unleash hell with a sword and necrotic energy blast ready to go.

Image has previously revealed J. Scott Campell's variant cover for Issue #300, showing the undead antihero ready for action.

McFarlane will return to write and draw a story in September's Spawn #301, the record-setting issue, and he'll be joined by Capullo, Francesco Mattina, Jason Shawn Alexander, Clayton Crain, Jerome Opeña and more.

Created by Image Comics co-founder and President Todd McFarlane, Spawn follows black ops assassin Al Simmons, who is betrayed by his former employers and resurrected as the eponymous undead hero. Caught in the middle of the ongoing war between Heaven and Hell, only Spawn has the power to save humanity or damn it for eternity.
