Fans of Pennyworth can expect much more Alfred in their future.

The hour-long drama has been officially renewed for a second season by Epix, according to Deadline. The series, executive produced by Bruno Heller (RomeGotham) and Danny Cannon (CSI), explores the early life of Alfred Pennyworth, the man who would eventually become the butler and close confidante of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The ten-episode first season of Pennyworth recently concluded on September 29.

"Pennyworth has been a big hit for us, embraced by critics and fans alike," said Epix President Michael Wright. "It was the highest-performing original series ever to premiere on Epix, more than doubling the viewership of the shows that came before it."

"Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon and WBTV have delivered a brilliant, must-watch series," he continued. "We can’t wait to work with this phenomenal cast and creative team on another exciting season."

The end of season one saw Alfred foiling the villainous Raven Society, who had kidnapped the Queen. Alfred mounted a rescue operation alongside new American cohorts Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane; and though he stopped the plot to stage a coup, he lost his father in the process. In response to his heroism, Alfred was pardoned for his previous crimes, and earned a different type of bonus when he ended up in bed with Her Majesty.

Season 2, which will also be ten episodes, will begin filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK in January.
