Dan DiDio's planned DC Comics 'Ultimate' timeline has made its way online.
An image of the timeline was shared on Twitter by the official DC Nation account. The timeline shows events for assorted characters and titles, including Superman, Batman and their supporting characters and villains in the new continuity. This comes after the announcement of the DC 'Ultimate' timeline, which will streamline existing DC continuity and determine the direction of storylines going forward. Anticipation for the revamped timeline has been building since the DC: Meet the Publishers panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The rows of the timeline are divided between the Batman Family, Superman Family and Wonder Woman Family. Columns are categorized by specific events, with the JSA logo under the "G1-Y3" header, and Freedom Fighters and Star Squadron logos under "G1-Y5." Events under the Batman Family include the marriage between Thomas and Martha Wayne and Bruce Wayne's birth; the destruction of Krypton and Kal-El's rocket crashing in Smallville are found in the Superman Family; and the Wonder Woman Family has her comic debut, her addition to the JSA and retreat to Themyscira following at atomic bomb drop.
"We're trying to organize our stories in a comprehensive way," DiDio said during the panel. "This will be the basis of all DC Comics for the future. We don't know what the future is, but what's happening right now is a high level of planning... What we've done is identified the generations of DC Comics... we're reintroducing aspects of our history back into it... What you see right now is a story that will be consistent."
