6 Fights Where Batman Beat Darkseid (& 3 Times Darkseid Beat Him)

Advertisemen

Darkseid is one of the strongest beings in the universe who possesses control over Apokolips. The man behind Darkseid's creation is Jack Kirby who introduced him first in DC's  Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #133 and gave him just as much raw power as Superman. The two facts to remember are: Batman and Darkseid have barely gone blazing guns at each other, full-on combat is a rarity. But the two have faced each other multiple times.

The supervillain sometimes has been defeated alone by Batman without any help whatsoever, whilst there are times when Batman has required the help of the Justice League in defeating him. Batman vs. Darkseid is an issue that pertains more to the ratio of the writer, his arc and the sole interpretation of an individual.

9 BATMAN: FINAL CRISIS

This is the most straightforward fight on the list. In the Final Crisis event, Batman and Darkseid face-off, the former defeating him without any doubt. This deserves mention on account of the fact that even Superman fails to beat Darkseid at raw muscular power.

Darkseid belongs to the race of New Gods who fall easy prey to Radion. Batman pulls off the impossible feat by using a Radion bullet on Boss Darkseid. In the end, Batman survives the contest and Darkseid doesn't. In short, Darkseid is to Radion as Superman is to Kryptonite.

8 DARKSEID: FINAL CRISIS #6

It has to be outrightly mentioned that the DC supervillain and the Caped Crusader never really fought each other in terms of raw power. Whatever their battles were, would be either tactical, wit based or battles that involve Radion, Mobius Chair, etc. In Final Crisis #6, after the battle of New Gods, Darkseid travels time to come to Earth to eliminate/infect superheroes one by one, using the Anti-Life Equation.

In Command D, Batman makes use of the Radion bullet to wound Darkseid, whilst the latter kills Batman with his Omega Beams. Batman's corpse is recovered by Superman in a later stage when he tears Command D apart.

7 BATMAN: ROBIN RISES

As Robin rises, Batman falls! This is the story of ROBIN RISES: OMEGA #1, wherein Batman travels all the way to Apokolips to bring back his dead son Damian Wayne's corpse from the planet. This is done by Darkseid and co. to use the energy reserves inside Damian's corpse to power the Omega cannon. Needless to say, a face-off between D&D ensues. Batman in the Hellbat suit is pushed by Darkseid.

Batman is brutally wounded in the fight but somehow manages to divert the whole power of his Hellbat suit. This takes a toll on Batman's metabolism but he flees the scene with Damian's corpse. Batman falls to death ultimately, Darkseid's motive is defeated and Robin rises.

6 DARKSEID: DESTROYER

The 13th episode from Season 3 of Justice League Unlimited is Destroyer. Darkseid once again has come to Earth to release his Anti-Life Equation, thereby seeking vengeance on Superman. The helpless League locks itself in Legion and watches Darkseid's Parademons wreck havoc on helpless masses.

Although Batman admits that using Lex Luthor's help is the need of the hour, he latter faces off Darkseid in a one on one contest. As  Darkseid traps Superman in the Agony Matrix, he attempts to cut out his heart and kill him, Batman, a mere human tries to interrupt him with all his might and is mortally injured in the process. In the end, Lex Luthor comes with the Anti-Life Equation and forces Darkseid to leave with it as Superman flies with an injured Batman.

5 BATMAN: SUPERMAN/ BATMAN: APOCALYPSE

This is a story based on comics and books, where Darkseid has kidnapped Supergirl Kara, Superman's cousin. The joint forces of Batman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl travel to Apokolips to save Kara.

In a one on one, Batman is ruthlessly beaten by Darkseid. But raw power isn't Batman's only forte. He manages to hack into Darkseid's Hellspawn weapon and trades this for Supergirl. Darkseid is forced to give back Supergirl because he wants to avert a Hellspawn winter.

4 BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

In the TV show, Lord of Apokolips single-handedly defeats the entire Justice League on EarthThe only one to make it to the end is, of course, Batman. What happens next has managed to bamboozle fans for long. Batman challenges Darkseid for a one on one, but without the usage of his superpowers. Ha!

It is without a doubt, that Batman gets beaten to pulp until Boom Tube Generator comes to his rescue. Before Darkseid can make his final move on Batman, Question successfully reverses Boom Tube Generator signal and sends Darkseid and his henchmen back to Apokolips.

3 BATMAN: JLA: ROCK OF AGES

The story shows a striking resemblance to the Final Crisis, where Batman travels to Apokolips to free Earth from Darkseid. In this comic arc, Darkseid has finally mastered the Anti-Life Equation which allows him to makes Earth his submissive.

The Darkseid clones the Equation using his master torturer DaSaad's "Billion Dollar Bates". Batman travels to Apokolips, impersonates DaSaad for many years, until he wrecks Darkseid's plan on the inside, eventually rendering Darkseid's ultimate goal null and void.

2 BATMAN: JUSTICE LEAGUE: THE DARKSEID WAR

This shouldn't be counted as Batman's sole victory over Darkseid but that of the Justice League, aided by Batman at the right time. This war was an utterly dangerous conflict launched by the Parademon Army of Apokolips, so the Dark God seeks revenge over Earth 0.

The Darkseid and the League fight in many stages, finally culminating in Darkseid's death in Universe 3, on their way to Qward. Batman and Green Lantern discover the Mobius chamber and gain control of the Chair. The end of it, League attacks Mobious' shadows, bonds The Flash to the Black Racer to work the Anti-Life Equation, killing Darkseid.

1 THE DARKSEID: EVERY TIME HE CHOSE TO SPARE BATMAN

This is more of a moral victory for Darkseid, for every time he chooses to spare Batman instead of sparring with him. Sometimes, it's about you and your enemy being on an equal pedestal and Darkseid many times has proved to be the best judge of that.

The fact remains, there is no comparison of Darkseid and Batman's raw strength. So to fight an ordinary human with no superpowers isn't a fair practice, therefore Darkseid in many stories and timelines chooses not to spar with Batman. One can't argue the same for Darkseid and Superman, however.
