10 Hellsing Ultimate - 8.3/10
The alternate version to Studio Gonzo’s Hellsing, Madhouse’s Hellsing Ultimate was released over a span of six years, starting in 2006 and ending in 2012. The action-horror anime takes place in a world where supernatural creatures are eating humans.
The organization known as Hellsing works to eliminate these beings. Integra Hellsing, the leader of Hellsing, has spent her life fighting the creatures. Integra’s ultimate weapon is known as the vampire Alucard. Alucard and his partner Seras work together to fight against anyone who opposes Hellsing. With glorious over-the-top action to compliment an absurd (but awesome) storyline, Hellsing Ultimate is a work of art.
9 Trigun - 8.3/10
Released during the spring 1998 season, Trigun is an action-adventure anime. The anime follows Vash the Stampede, who has a very large bounty on him. Known for his reign of destruction, he is nicknamed The Humanoid Typhoon. However, all this is reputation as Vash is really a pushover who has never killed anyone.

8 Nana - 8.4/10
Released during the spring 2006 season, Nana is a music-drama anime. Nana follows two girls, both named Nana. One is a bubbly upbeat girl who falls in love too easily, while the other is a punk rock singer determined to reach success with her band.
Nana and Nana meet each other on a train and end up becoming roommates later in the series. Despite leading two completely different lives, the two share more in common than they think. The anime follows their adventures as they both get involved in each other’s lives.
7 The Tatami Galaxy - 8.4/10
Released during the spring 2010 season, The Tatami Galaxy is a psychological-mystery anime. The series follows a third-year college student who has an encounter with a god of matrimony. The encounter has the student contemplating his life decisions.
This causes an epiphany where the student decides to make the most out of his life. Failing to ask out Akashi, a girl he has a crush on, the protagonist enters a time-lapse and restarts his college life. The Tatami Galaxy is one season and runs for 11 episodes, and there is also a movie.
6 Parasyte: The Maxim - 8.4/10
Released during the fall 2014 season, Parasyte: The Maxim is an action-horror anime. In addition to having a very good opening theme song, Parasyte follows parasitic aliens that take host in the brains of humans. Shinichi Izumi is attacked by the Parasites, but still regains control of his brain.
Instead, the parasite assumes control of his hand. Working together with his new companion, Migi, Shinichi tries to defend himself from the other parasites. Parasyte: The Maxim is an intense sit that makes the most of its 24 episodes.
5 Monster - 8.6/10
Released during the spring 2004 season, Monster is a psychological-thriller anime. The anime follows Dr. Kenzou Tenma, a neurosurgeon working his way up the corporate ladder. While preparing for surgery, he is told to abandon his current patient and perform brain surgery on a celebrity.
Obliging, Dr. Tenma performs the surgery, but his original patient ends up dying. When a similar situation happens to him again, he sticks with his original patient instead of the mayor of the town. The patient he saves is a boy named Johan Liebert, who grows up to be a rather awful individual. Dr. Tenma's decision to save Johan comes back to haunt him, sparking a gripping cat and mouse chase that challenges the former's principles.
4 Fighting Spirit - 8.8/10
Released during the fall 2000 season, Fighting Spirit is a shounen-sports series. Better known by its Japanese name, Hajime no Ippo, the series follows Makunouchi Ippo. Bullied from a young age, Ippo is quite a timid individual who wishes he could stand up for himself. While being bullied, he is saved by the boxer Takamura Mamoru.
Ippo asks Takamura to train him in boxing. Takamura is confident Ippo can become a boxer and gives him an unreasonable time frame of one week. With a new fire burning inside Ippo, he trains to become the top-ranking boxer. Fighting Spirit has three seasons, with the first running for 75 episodes.
3 Hunter x Hunter - 8.9/10
Released during the fall 2011 season, Hunter x Hunter is a shounen-adventure anime. In a world where people go on adventures and can register as official hunters, Gon Freecss wants to become the best in the business. His ultimate goal is to find his father, a renowned hunter, who left him years ago.
Starting from the Hunter exam, Gon quickly realizes the road he has chosen is much harder than expected. Hunter x Hunter starts out as a relatively typically shounen anime, but that is only the calm before the storm.
2 One-Punch Man - 8.9/10
One of the largest series of the current era of anime, One-Punch Man was released during the fall 2015 season. The action-parody anime follows Saitama, a hero who can defeat any villain with a single punch.
Consequently, Saitama grows bored of fighting, although that does not stop the bald hero from getting dragged into all sorts of battles. A cyborg named Genos notices Saitama’s power and deems him his mentor. One-Punch Man is two seasons and confirmed for a six-episode special airing in October 2019. The original first season - the only one produced by Madhouse - is 12 episodes.
