Fans Swarm Spider-Man Extended Cut Tweet with MCU Break-Up Criticism

The extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home is now in theaters everywhere, but fans who are still not happy over negotiation breakdowns between Sony and Marvel Studios over the cinematic licensing for Spider-Man.

In response to Sony tweeting about the re-release hyping the film's all-new action sequence, fans flooded Twitter to drag the studio about Spider-Man's removal from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Comments have ranged from unbridled fury to memes lamenting the end of Tom Holland's Peter Parker in the MCU.

With Far From Home the highest earning film in Sony's entire history, talks between Sony and Marvel Studios' parent company Disney broke down regarding financing and profit-sharing for potential future films starring Holland's Spider-Man. While Holland is still committed to reprise the role, the hero is currently no longer part of the MCU.

While the possibility for an agreement between the two studios remains viable, in the meantime, fans are clearly still frustrated by Spidey's potential departure as seen in the angry, funny, and heartbreaking comments to Sony's promotional campaign for the film.
