The Walking Dead #192 saw longtime protagonist Rick Grimes die after being shot by Sebastian Milton at the Commonwealth, leaving some to wonder about the fate of the immensely popular zombie franchise.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, issue #193 will be the final issue in Robert Kirkman's longrunning zombie series.
First published in October 2003, The Walking Dead was created by Kirkman and Tony Moore, who left the series after six issues, getting replaced by Charlie Adlard. Kirkman's statements in the "Letter Hacks" portion of the issue indicated the series would continue. The immensely popular series has spawned two TV shows, The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, with a trilogy of movies centered around Grimes planned.
The original solicitation for The Walking Dead #193 read, "'THE FARMHOUSE': Out in the countryside, trouble is brewing for a certain someone." Issues #194 and #195 were also solicited.
The Walking Dead #193 goes on sale July 3.
