Discussion Time
One-minute Ann is hesitant to be around Hachimaru, the next she’s fretting over him…okay then. Once more, Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den continues to wane on the side of being kind of groan worthy. As our new duo continue to learn about one another—if you can call giant skips in progress learning—Hachimaru learns more about how samurai are made. Locker Balls—as they are called—seem to be the force behind creating new samurai and each planet is judged by the number of Locker Balls they have. Ann—being a princess—is able to search for these lights via mediation and of course is amazed at how big of a light flows from Hachimaru. The two teens set course to find a Locker Ball and it’s from here we see them learn more about each other. Meanwhile, our space samurai continues to destroy planets as he speeds to Hachimaru…that seems exciting at the very least. We won’t hate too much more on chapter 9 of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den but finding the silver lining of this week’s chapter wasn’t too easy…
1. Some Teamwork
One of the better elements of chapter 9 of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den was seeing Ann and Hachimaru set aside their weird indifference and go off on that small excursion. Finding the Locker Ball, the two begin to learn more about each other but Hachimaru clearly lied to his princess which intrigued us a bit. Will he out himself as a just-made samurai or will Ann learn the truth and be even more mad at Hachimaru? We’re guessing we’ll find out soon enough.
2. Ever Closer
Our evil space samurai is what keeps us hoping an epic incident will occur soon in Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den. The fact that this samurai can basically pile drives into planets with force makes us wonder how Hachimaru will even hold a candle to such pure destructive force. This battle is what keeps us hoping the grand fights of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den will be epic enough to keep the series intriguing.
[ad_middle class="mt40"]1. Groans Ahoy
We weren’t going to do a reason to skip Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den chapter 9, but we can’t avoid it when we realize it needs to be said. A lot of the situations in this series are beginning to make us roll our eyes. Ann and Hachimaru seemed to be kind of cute at first, but chapter 9 made us sigh each time they acted the same towards one another. The whole of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den feels groan worthy as it continues forward and that doesn’t bode well for later chapters.
Final Thoughts
Let’s be honest, folks; Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den isn’t a bad series, but it is far from great. Chapter 9 continues proving us right by being an okay chapter at best with some really groan inducing character moments and lack of content to really keep us glued to this series.
