Agents of SHIELD Announces Final Day of Shooting | CBR

Starting in 2013, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. expanded the Marvel Cinematic Universe on television -- but next year, the ABC series will come to an end.

To commemorate the last day of principal photography on the show's upcoming seventh and final season, the series' official Twitter account shared a photo of the main cast along with the series producers. In the caption, they released a message thanking the fans for their continued support.

Premiering in 2013, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. featured the return of fan-favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Phil Coulson after his death during 2012's The Avengers. The series would have the team take on threats inspired by MCU films and Marvel Comics.

The sixth season is currently airing this summer. During Comic-Con International in San Diego, longtime Marvel Television Executive Vice President Jeph Loeb confirmed next year's seventh season will be its last.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC. The series stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Henry Simmons, Iain De Caestecker, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, Elizabeth Henstridge and Clark Gregg. The seventh and final season will premiere sometime during the summer of 2020.
